How to solve “The plugin does not have a valid header.” for WordPress 2.8

I install a new WordPress 2.8 and I want to install some plugins in the dashboard.

I searched Super Switch and install , but it says “The plugin does not have a valid header.” and I can’t find Super Switch plugin in the dashboard.

So How to solve it?

Let me tell you, get into the folder of this plugin ,for example Super Switch ( wp-content/plugins/super-switch/ )

Then find readme.txt .

Did you see this:

Tested up to: 2.7.1

Just modify it as Tested up to: 2.8

All right, go to your dashboard and you’ll find the plugins you want in the dashboard. Some author of WordPress plugins can change your readme.txt so that your plugins will work well in WordPress.

    i have the latest version of word press.i installed the nextgen gallery plugin then saw the flash gallery plugin.uploaded manualy and activated the plugin but go the “the plugin does not have a valid header”message.been combing forums and tinkering with the option ect and nothing has worked.
    im new so much of the terminology is new as well.

    plugin says tested upto 2.8
    still gives the msg when i try to activate it
    using : “Kimili Flash Embed”

    I tried this for the wp videotube and it doesn’t work… I also tried to manually move the contents of the plugin up a directory and that doesn’t work either…

    There is no readme.txt file for the wp-videotube plugin

    Any suggestions?

    @all don’t worry. Just wait for about 10 or 15 minutes and your plugins will function well !

    im give up, everything i have already do. but still not work. i have already move the plugin file into the main root, and adding readme.txt. Any idea? please..

    Same problem here.
    I made the modification, waited a day…rebooted the server.
    Still cant enable.
    Not sure what to do but revert back to an old Wordpress install now….???

    If you are creating a new plugin make sure that you have this in your main plugin file.
